The workshop entitled "Rhythm is the Cure" features Southern Italian ritual folk dances used as music and dance therapy that are combined with the unique style of frame drums and tambourines. In the workshops, Alessandra will be teaching the ancient chants and dances that are performed in honor of the Black Madonna.

Tammorriata-a beautiful, sensual dance from Naples, performed by couples playing castanets to the rhythm of a large drum, called the Tammorra, which has a strong African influence in the movement and rhythm. The Tammorriata is an improvisation of drumming and singing, and it is danced during the rituals held in honor of the Black Madonna (originally ancient rites for the Earth Goddess Cybele).

A few years ago, Harvard psychiatrist John Mack, a leading researcher in the alien encounter phenomenon, approached me after seeing my recent film The Jew in the Lotus. He wanted me to consider making a movie about encounters with these alien life forms. I told him no. I knew next to nothing about alien abduction, had no interest and thought it was all rather foolish. Then, he invited me to meet some of the people who claim to have had these experiences.

They seemed rather normal and spoke about their feelings of connection and longing for these uninvited intruders to return. I had stumbled into a world filled by people who had been touched by something ... and had their lives blown apart because of it. I was mesmerized. I feel that I was abducted by John Mack.

The Maha Kumbh Mela, that took place in Allahabad, India in January 2001, is estimated to be the largest gathering of human beings in the history of the world. Official figures state that over 27 million people came to bathe on one day alone - January 24, which was the most favorable time for a "holy dip" in the waters of the Sangam.

Near the beginning of time, according to Hindu Myth, the Gods and Demons battled for possession of the amrit (nectar of immortality). In the struggle, four drops of nectar fell to the ground. Hindus believe that these places continue to reverberate with the power and energy of the gods and Mela's are held every 3 years in one of the four holy locations. The Maha Kumbh Mela in Allahabad is considered the most auspicious is because it occurs at the Sangam, the confluence of the Ganges, Yamuna and mythical Saraswati Rivers.

Take Me To The River is a documentary film of the Maha Kumbh Mela, a Hindu festival and pilgrimage which was the largest gathering in the history of the world. The film documents the event by immersing you in the midst of the madness. Experience a roller coaster of emotions as obscurity and clarity flow across the crowded and dusty flood plain of Ganges and Yamuna Rivers. A double whammy of Ganesha and Saraswati. Ganesha the remover of obstacles and facilitator of success and lord of unity and group consciousness, coupled with Saraswati the goddess of the creative arts, singing, dancing, writing, painting etc. With this dual ceremony we will energetically clear the inner and outer obstacles making way for creativity to flow.

It will last a couple hours, so be prepared to sit. There will be moments where participation is invited. It is requested that participants do not position there feet directly at the altar or others performing the ceremony. And if people have questions, we can address them informally after the ceremony, to keep the integrity of the rythmn going.

The puja will be in Sanskrit and is modeled after classical vedic style. The intention is definitely to help clear the karma for all the participants. The experience is subtle like watching a rainbow or enjoying a warm misty spring morning. Sometimes it can be unpleasant and bring up a feeling of agitation, that is the ground of your mind being stirred up.

In this Quest we will enter the Void where the purpose is to purify the Body, Mind, & Spirit through the movement so that a new sense of self can be present in the Dance.
